Trillium Vocational Institute offers non-credential academic support and enrichment programs through Trillium Bright Steps. These programs are designed for skill development and supplementary learning and do not lead to a diploma, certificate, academic credit or other formal credential.

Trillium Bright Steps was created with a simple belief: every learner deserves the opportunity to build skills, discover their strengths and feel confident in their ability to learn.
We provide personalized tutoring and enrichment programs for students in Grades 1–12, with French learning opportunities also available for adults.
Our approach combines academic support with the development of confidence, communication, problem-solving and lifelong learning skills.
Bright Steps is part of the Trillium family of educational initiatives, with Trillium Vocational Institute providing the organizational foundation behind the brand.
Bright Steps combines qualified tutors, personalized instruction and regular progress updates to help every learner build stronger skills, greater confidence and positive learning habits.
Our tutors include university graduates, experienced educators and subject specialists selected for their knowledge, communication skills and ability to connect with learners. Ontario Certified Teachers may also be available for selected subjects and programs.
We provide academic support for students in Grades 1–12 in Math, English, Science and French. Additional support is available for homework, assignments, study skills, test preparation and exam preparation.
Instruction is designed to reinforce concepts and expectations from the Ontario curriculum while being adapted to each student’s grade level, current understanding and individual learning goals.
Each learner’s needs are identified through an initial consultation, a review of relevant schoolwork and ongoing tutor observations. These insights help us develop an appropriate learning plan and adjust instruction as the student progresses.
Parents receive meaningful updates about the student’s attendance, areas of improvement, current challenges and recommended next steps. Our goal is to maintain open communication and a collaborative relationship with families.
Small-group sessions are limited to a maximum of five students. Learners are grouped, where possible, according to compatible grade levels, subjects, learning needs and schedules.
Tutors are reviewed for relevant education, subject knowledge, teaching experience and suitability for working with learners. References and screening requirements are completed in accordance with Bright Steps policies and the responsibilities of the position.
Tutoring is available in person at our Scarborough learning centre and online, depending on the subject, grade level, instructor availability and student’s needs.
